Fri-yay! Let's get this party started- why don't we?
1- Cheapo cheese plating
This little instructional will be very useful in the months ahead. Our farmer's market has a very good and very cheap cheese-monger so I'm stoked. My kids are now munching on smoked gouda slices and wedges of brie as their snacks,
2- Post workout grub?
I usually just have a banana or some turkey slices (or nothing as I'm running around getting my errands done before picking up A, but ever wonder what are the best things to eat after a workout. This article tells you. Incidentally, I once had a personal trainer who told me that the absolute best time to cheat is an hour after a workout.
3- Calorie counting
While we're talking workout, I got this calorie counter from Tricia's blog. Ever wonder how many calories you need to maintain/lose. This site calculates it for you. PS. She recommended two but I chose this one as it tells me I can eat more than the other site does-- hehehe!
4- School stuff
This fall my 6 year old enters Grade 1- cue the mama tears for leaving her Montessori and starting 'big school'. We did hoewever manage to snag this cool back pack and lunch bag in the PBK sale for September- I didn't choose the pattern- my very colourful six year old did.
The moms at her music class also advised me to get a yum-box for packing her lunch-- this is also the first time I'll be packing her lunch as grub has always been provided. #firstworldproblems #spoiltmomconfessions
5- Sprung Spring
My planter is filled, al fresco dining has begun and my favourite tree is now beginning to bud. Coincidentally, I wrote about this tree exactly two years ago, to the date!
And finally, I dare you not to smile with this last shot

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Sarita! I love this post!! First off, loving that cheese plate pic! Yum!! Thanks for linking the best things to eat after a workout (and for sharing what your trainer said too! ;)) I track my calorie intake using the LoseIt! app and love it! I checked out the site you linked and it gave me over 500 calories more than that app suggests for me...room for more cheese, perhaps? ;) lol. We love dining outdoors too and it looks like you have a beautiful spot for it! That last pic made me smile so big! I totally lost your dare! ;) lol. Have a beautiful Mother's Day this weekend! xo - Brenda // Chatting Over Chocolate
ReplyDeleteUgh I hate calorie counting :(. I am on my last week of freedom and Monday is the magical day to buckle down and start getting my macro nutrients in check too. I am NOT looking forward to that.
ReplyDeleteSo glad spring has finally arrived!
