What's Up Wednesday- May 2019

Hello last Wednesday of May! Here's all the stuff going on in our little corner.

What we're eating this week?
Lots of quick things this week.
Monday- Kolbassa vegetable soup
Tuesday- grilled chicken and vegetables ( I made the best basil, apple cider vinegar marinade!)
Wednesday- all the leftovers with a big salad.
Thursday- Veggie burgers
Friday- I'm thinking we'll grill or do takeout-- not sure yet!
The weekend is just so far away but the grill will be on for sure.

What I'm reminiscing about
The days when May was warm and our pool was clean. The robot, the vacuum AND the hose is broken but I'm hoping it all gets fixed by this weekend.

What I'm loving
We got new patio furniture and can't wait to put it outside!!

Also, aren't spring blooms simply wonderful

What we've been up to…

Swim meets have finished for the season. The last one was the Grand Finale in Oakville.... sooooo long and 5 races for my girl.

We left starving but no fear, Maro's to the rescue for some of the very best Mediterranean food

What I'm dreading…
Loosing my cool with this little lady who is testing my mama patience these days.... she sure can take a pretty pic though

What I'm working on
Getting things together for my little backyard oasis. I got an especially low profile set so matching things up would be hard.

What I'm excited about…
Sum... sum... summmer!!!

What I'm watching/reading…
My library has quite a few things on hold for me! Colleen Hoover's Maybe Now but I can't wait for summer reading to really start!! So much books. I will have to do a reading recap very soon.

And nothing is really captivating me on TV these days. I just finished Brothers and Sisters (again)--- loved it so, so much!!  I'm kinda watching Parks and Rec Season 1 while I'm in the kitchen. Not too impressed with The Bachelorette or Jane the Virgin. I also started Veep but had to turn it off while the kids were around because of the very profane language. Any summer show recos?

What I'm listening to..
Count on Me. My kids love it and it reminds me of a parent kid relationship

What I'm wearing…
Sometimes summer dresses sometimes leggings and sweatshirts. Global warming is some serious business!!!

What I'm doing this weekend…
A birthday party, karate, some backyard fun and a little furniture assembly!

What I'm looking forward to next month?
June is always twice as nice with all of the sunshine and anticipation of summer vacay. I'm just looking forward to getting some fresh air!!

What else is new?

Sunshine and friends!!!

Have a wonderful Wednesday, friends!

Ottawa Fun Part 1

I just have to resign myself to the fact that I'm just not going to be on top of blogging these days. Life is just so busy with the kids, year end and so many little things here and there. So here's our little trip to our nation's capital, Ottawa, from last weekend.

D took a couple days off, we picked up the girls from school a bit early and headed there.... we were all stoked to go on this little adventure!

We stayed at the Albert at Bay Suite Hotel. Cheap, cheerful and huge suites. Perfect for a family.

Tulips were all through the city!

After checking in, we headed out for dinner. A short, windy walk through the city.

A beautiful church and a kid who loves taking pics in front things.

We headed to Arome Meze, a delicious small plates and wine restaurant. The food was so good with layers and layers of flavours but took a looong time with little kids so we played table topics to pass the time.

Bright and early to the Ottawa Tulip Festival which I wrote about here

We headed to the Canadian Museum of Nature after. My kiddos had the best time.

C loved the architecture and likened it to all things Harry Potter.

So many opportunities for learning and so many fun, interactive activities for the kiddos to engage with.

Had a little Thai after as one particular kiddo got hangry.

And a few cupcakes for the kiddos as we walked back to the hotel.

Stay tuned for Part 2!

Have the most magical Monday, friends!!

Fri-yay!

Yay for Friday! And a four day week! Here's what's been bringing a smile to our face in recent days!

1- D's birthday was this last week and he's so special, Canada had the day off for it. Ha! As per the birthday boy's request, we kept it super simple with his favourite brunch, a long hike with his girls and then we went to a neighbourhood potluck/music party in the evening. Though we didn't get a chance to do cake that day, we did it the day after... he wanted sugar and gluten free and I obliged- well me and the baker did :-).

This is what happens when the government bans weedicides :-)

This cake was legit delish #mindblown

Someone spilled a drink on the birthday boy so he changed into this very subdued number

2- I've found a new author- Jennifer Close. Sadly, she has only written three books but her writing reminds me of Judy Blume's. I read The Hopefuls this week and it had me feeling well... hopeful! I've already placed a hold on her two others in the library.

The Hopefuls: A novel by [Close, Jennifer]

3- My friend Jenn swears by this colour so I went to her nail place and requested it... the lady was like- oh, you are Jennifer's friend?! LOL. I love the cleanness of this colour both for fingers and toes.

4- So many fun blooms out and some days we even have sunshine! The grass is green and my spirits are soaring, friends!

5- Did you miss my tulip festival post? So many beautiful blooms. If you are a tulip fan, I strongly encourage you to take a look. Still to come, my Ottawa post... Here's a sneak peak.

Have a wonderful weekend. The pool is opening today and we are awfully excited for the weekend.
