Diwali 2020

Diwali 2020 was a different one but so special. We usually spend a fun, festive evening with our family in Mississauga. However, because of Covid restrictions, decided to do our own thing at home. We invited our niece, did our own family prayers, invited a few people to view the deeyas outside and then had a lovely family meal, just us five. We also tried our hand at making different Trinidadian/Indian sweets-- 2 out of 4 were near hits, LOL! Oh well! I didn't take nearly enough pictures but here are just a few....

We invited some neighbours to light a deeya and they were thrilled.

In Trinidad, the deeyas are so beautiful when they are lit but being indoors and with very windy, cold outdoor conditions, we have to make some slight alterations in Canada.

We put up our Christmas lights to add to the Divali resplendence.

If you look closely on the driveway, you'll see some deeyas (aka electronic tealights)

Not a very good shot but the only one we got!!!

Different but so special.... Light over darkness, the meaning of Divali,  holds a special meaning in 2020!

Have a wonderful Friday, friends!!!

Welcome Home, Toby!

We did it... introducing the newest member of our family... Mr. Toby Milo Wigglesworth!! A big name for our little guy.

We have been looking for a dog, like many, many families since earlier this year. No puppies to be found and also breeders have been infuriatingly over-inflating their prices. We also had some restrictions. We needed a hypoallergenic dog, preferred a male, and we wanted a small to mid-sized puppy.

After many different searches and putting our names on different breeder waiting lists, we told the girls to hang on for a bit, next year might be our year to get the pup that was meant for us. However, my Instagram friend Corey was constantly putting pictures of dogs that she was fostering for our local animal hospital. When I spoke to her in August, she took note of all our preferences and told me not to worry, she'd find me a pup.

I was so surprised when on our Thanksgiving weekend, on Friday, she emailed me with pictures of our sweet boy. He didn't fit in with the rest of the litter so he was given up for adoption. I didn't tell the girls but we fell in love as soon as we saw the pics and decided to meet him just to make sure allergies weren't going to run amok.

Excited doesn't begin to describe our emotions.

Yep, he has a favourite. The lady who spends all the time with him.

A week later, we went to collect him after we bought everything for him...

An hour after we brought him home.

Boy has this week been hard work. We are in the throes of potty training, crate training, working on his biting and not picking on the runt of our litter, A. D's allergies have also been acting up some... We are doing puppy classes and homework at home, chatting with other puppy owners, spending lots of time outside, watching youtube videos and Cesar Milan videos as well as reading lots of literature. He is responding so well though. He is much calmer, responding well to his training, loving his routine and at least peeing on a pee pad for now... Just like kid parenting, I will take the little wins in puppy parenting. Overwhelming but there is a light at the end of this puppy tunnel and I'm seeing it in the future.

Welcome home, Toby boy! We are so smitten....Here's to many life adventures ahead!!

Quarantine Mother's Day 2020

Hey everyone. Just popping by to share those Mother's Day memories from this year. It was such a low key, lovely day filled with so much caring and indulgence from my little family. Here are a few snapshots from our day.

C was so excited to give me a personalised shampoo and conditioner based on my hair type- it even has my name on it... this girl knows her mama well!!!

The girls and I did an dance workout and then got ready for brunch. D ordered some takeout from our favourite local restaurant complete with a sangria kit- again... my family knows me well1

Brie with a peach chutney and pretzel bites!!

My kids love a good cocktail in an acrylic glass.

They accidentally gave us a vegetarian brunch because we asked for no bacon. This chickpea fritter was so delicious.

Followed by some cinnamon roll french toast.

Instead of doing our dresses for Mother's Day,we opted for matching tees highlighting seven Canadian female doctors playing a vital part during this Covid pandemic.

Zoom call and lots of other calls with family.

And followed by my very favourite king crab legs for dinner!

We ended the night doing some art tutorials and watching American Idol and Disney's singalong.

A truly wonderful day filled with so much love!!

Spooky fun- Halloween 2019!

Morning, lovelies!! Can anyone say Halloween hangover?! It's been a busy, exciting week. Everyone's still asleep. We braved the rain, got creative, ate way too much candy and  had way too much fun. Here are just a 'few' pics.

All prepped for schoo, we have a glam witch.

And a ravenclaw.

I worked during the day but took some time to pack on some makeup and then picked the girls up all decked off to surprise them. That's tulle over my face.

After dinner and chores, it was time to reapply makeup. This is what we did to ensure stillness in the process LOL. She wanted a red lip like momma but my ninja skills only went so far!!

We put our candy out front but our neighbours are so polite that they only take one.

We had a silver fox join us.. though he looks like a bunny here lol.

I don't wear a red lip often but I'm liking the look. Also, I'm either a sorting hat or a glam witch depending on who's asking...

We wore three layers under her clothes so her costume could stay intact.

It was rainy and the houses in our neighbourhood and very far apart so we took the car out for the further ones and then walked to the closer ones.

Not pictured... the tail that came with this costume...

As you can see our neighbours delivered as usual!!

And that's a wrap on Halloween 2019...

How was your spooky night?
