What's up Wednesday- March 2018

I've been so quiet here. As we near the busy time in tax season, I'm a bit swamped. Add a little bit of real life and I find myself with little time to spare to blog!

What we're eating this week?
Monday: Veggies and chicken
TUesday: turkey sausage, white bean, veggie soup (even the kiddos loved it)
Wednesday: salad and chicken
Thursday(before a holiday)- pizza
Friday- maybe some fish?
Weekend- some decadence... did someone say mini eggs?!

Speaking of food, we went out on a double date with friends this weekend and the scallops and polenta were so, so good!

What I'm reminiscing about
Our little trip to Mexico. You can read about Part 1 and 2. Part 3 coming soon and we love it so much, we booked to go back next year!

What I'm loving
My kid placed third in her swim club's swimathon and won Raptors Tickets next weekend (and movie tix with a pizza). Thanks to all our family for their support!!! We couldn't do it without you guys. XOXO
PS: she also spent most of the night working on her favourite emoji as a costume - pizza. Read: parents spent lots of time as well. And then proceeded to forget her cap and googles en route to the club- priorities, kid!

And tulips and sunshine

What we've been up to…
The usual: swimming, dance (times two), music (times three), skiing (which ended last week) and school. And WORK!

What I'm dreading…
I have to volunteer at a local bingo hall as part of my commitment to C's swim-club. Kid, you owe me one. Longest two hours of my life.

What I'm working on
Lots and lots of bank statements.
Vacation scheduling.
EQAO with C
Reading with A.

What I'm excited about…
Sum-sum-summa!!!! Although it's 3 months away!

What I'm watching/reading…
The Resident.
And magazines!

What I'm listening to..
My girls--- they have so many questions about the most random things at any given hour of the day.

What I'm wearing…
My winter coat still but spring is coming friends! I can feel it!

What I'm doing this weekend…
Bingo volunteering, a little out of town adventure with D, an easter egg hunt, time with friends, Easter dinner with our framily and quality time with my peeps.

What I'm looking forward to next month..
A little lady turns 9 and my parents come to visit.

What else is new?
Not a whole lot of new but our friends came over for st. patty's day. This was our 4th time celebrating together-- kids en tow. We did it in fine style with some food coloring, lots of wings and this stellar pizza dip they brought.

Mayan Riviera 2

Happy Friday! The week after vacay usually drags on and this one did the very same. However, because of all the R&R from the previous week, we just chugged along that much easier! Here's a bit more Mexico (part one here) as we enter the weekend!

Day 3.5 ish
(too many pics to post in the previous post)

These girls love a good hammock like I did growing up in the islands. My brothers were way better at swinging me at breakneck speed than I am though.

I did a morning yoga class here and came back to take a pic of their interesting ceiling.

Also, my view at the end of yoga.

There were quite a few Hindu Murtis through the resort.

This bali bed was our daily spot. We'd send C bright and early to put our beach bag on one.

On this day, A went ziplining with C. Can you tell how unhappy she was?

Two turns later and one outfit change (and not because she wet herself or anything), here she is smiling!

Dinner that night with the family. We tried Indian and some delicious fresh margs.

We followed this up with a flame throwing show poolside after.

Day 4-
C did a pedicure bright and early the next morning. Her very first.

Turquoise blue to match the ocean.

Back at the Bali Bed.

D and I ventured to the adult resort next to ours for some Mediterranean while our kids enjoyed the kid's club.

Day 5
The kids loved painting these coconuts

While the adults enjoyed the ceviche station by the pool!

You mixed and matched what you wanted on your ceviche.

My kids did cooking classes every day at the kids' club.

And the adults had a Mexican theatre experience at the adult resort El Dorado Royale once again.

I think I can squeeze the rest of the pics into 1 more next week.

Have a wonderful weekend, lovelies!

Sisterly Love

Happy second day of spring! May the temperatures creep higher and higher!

Today, we're all about the sisters! I don't have one of my own but I do love looking at my girls and the strong bond they're forging. Here are a few of my very random observations:

1- They have actual real conversations now. I eavesdrop sometimes and it warms my heart to hear them chatting way into the night (though we oft' have to go in and shut it down) about the most odd things (like Netflix shows and who they're inviting to their birthday parties)

2- They love to sing at the top of their lungs and have very similar taste in music- Ed Sheeran is the  favourite by a landslide right now!

3- C (almost 9) most times let's A (5.5) get her way. Probably, because A wears her down. She is by no means a pushover though and will stand her ground if it really gets to her.

4- One of their things is dancing. They clear a space and cut a rug. A has a very natural rhythm (and dances like no one is watching but C has some really technical and graceful moves so I find myself drawn to watching her.

5- They are both foodies.... like we'd expect anything else from our offspring but they have very distinct tastes- A is my protein lover and my little gourmand and C is my carb lover. They both adore sugar though and would have way more often than I allow!

6- C is a natural leader and A seems more of a follower- like their birth order. Things can change but lots of things that big sister wants to do, A finds herself doing it as well. She never liked TV and now she begs me for it (we don't allow it during the week unless it's our family viewing of Little House and The Prairie on Thursday). She also wants to do work if C is doing it or become a vegetarian just like C often says she wants to be (but reneges on it)

7- They are so affectionate- both with each other and with their parents. I love having huggers.

8- When they have their fights, it can get hairy but they are few and far between.

9- They are kind to each other. If I give A something, she will be sure to tell C so she can get one (C being older and wiser doesn't always do the same). And when A falls or is sad, C is always checking to make sure she is okay.

My girls, my  prayer is that you will continue to build this beautiful relationship as you grow older! May you be up there on each others' list of favourites, a shoulder to cry on and  one of the firsts you share  huge news with.  I hope you can advise and tease each other but not compete or compare between you. May you be independent of each other but call on each other. You've got this, girlies!

Mayan Riviera Part 1

We are back from our very relaxing vacation at the Generations Resort in the Mayan Riviera. We had a seven respite of total fun and unwinding! And the sunshine didn't hurt. Here are a few two many pictures of our days in Mexico.

Day 1-ish-
As we came into the hotel at around 4 o'clock. We took some quick pictures (that don't do the space justice as they don't show our lovely balcony and pool, as well as the girls' sleeping area) of our very spacious and comfy home for the next week then got ready for an early dinner as we were starving!

Our resort was surrounded by such beautiful, lush vegetation!

We had Japanese and the tuna tataki was delicious! So was the sauv blanc (not pictured)

We didn't realise that night, there was a Mexican night in the main restaurant so we made our way there after for  a second dessert, some margs and some light entertainment.,

She was captivated by the cookie corner! Where there is a way, there's a will... tippy toes will do it!

And some of us finished off the night with a swim in our pool.

Day 2-
We were up bright and early for breakfast! Whenever there were mangoes, these kids went a little crazy!

A walk around the pool and some chess.

Spanish classes for our family!

The kids loved the ball pit in the kids' club

And mama enjoyed lounging by the pool though it was a bit cold for me to go in too much.

D and I ventured out on a very rainy night to the neighbouring El dorado resort for some Mexican food. Here are my delicious shrimp and lobster tacos. Sidenote, we had a tough time getting back to our own resort in pouring rain and waited so long for our shuttle and we a bit late to pick up the kids (the one hiccup of our trip)

Day 3
We grabbed a Bali bed for the rest of our days there and spent a lot of time lounging there.

I went to a yoga class while D and the kids played in the sand.

The bar smoothies were also a fave of my littles.

And that's a wrap for Part 1! Stay tuned for more!
