What's Up Wednesday - August 2018

Well hello there!! It's the last week of my kids being home from school! I'm always sad at the end of the summer vacation for kids-- when I was a kid obvi, but even as an adult without kids, I loved when kids were off school. To me, everyone is in a better mood, there's less routine and so many different adventures... and now with my kids, I miss their company when they go back to school!

What we're eating this week?
Monday: turkey burgers
Tuesday: salads and sandwiches at a friend's house
Wednesday: I'm going to try out my new instant pot!!! I'm thinking a roasted chicken or something with some cauliflower potato salad
Thursday: thai tofu salad most likely.
Friday: dinner at a friend's house
Saturday: lunch and dinner at our framily's house!

Low carb and low sugar with some little treats thrown in.

What I'm reminiscing about
This summer has flown by with lots of fun... all those little moments have been awesome!

What I'm loving
Primal Pit Paste. I've been a natural deodorant convert for many years now but this stuff works better than the rest. I'm also using the charcoal magnesium at night to 'detox'

What we've been up to…
This week is a quieter one since the girls are all wrapped up with their camps. We still have some swimming lessons,  they are doing some workbooks and getting ready for school.

We did manage to squeeze a couple trips to the market as well.

What I'm dreading…
Tuesday when school starts again!

What I'm working on
We are also in the process of switching C to her own room and making A's room her own. Lots of decluttering and organising in the works! I feel 10 pound lighter already but boy do we still have a lot to do.

What I'm excited about…
I just booked my ticket to go to a family wedding in October... so much fun!

What I'm watching/reading…
The Fosters and... Bachelor in Paradise-- don't judge me more than I judge myself.

Lots of books on the go!

What I'm listening to..
not a whole lot except some podcasts here and there

What I'm wearing…
Summer dresses! It's been hot and I've been loving every single minute of it!

What I'm doing this weekend…
FInger Food Friday with some friends and a party on Saturday at our framily's house. Sunday is low key with some errands and some family time. Monday, we have our back to school dinner!

What I'm looking forward to next month..
The start of working out in the gym again. My youtube workouts are good to switch it up but I miss the routine of my classes.
Also, some more neighbourhood happy hours, some more sunshine and other fun!

What else is new?
I took the kids to the trampoline park and it was a huge hit!

Happy hump day!

A little NYC

Well hello there. I've been scarce I know! The girls are keeping me so busy and I've had a family funeral that I needed to head out of town for. My great aunt who was the oldest member of my mom's family passed at 86. God bless her generous soul and strength and support for all the living members of the family.

But this blog focuses on happy and our couple days in NYC with the my brother and his family definitely were some of the highlights of my summer so here we go!

All set and ready to go... we took the LIRR into the city. Such an easy ride into Penn Station.

Lots of walking!

There are so many sights to behold while walking through the city!!

I had never been to the Empire State building before this trip!

So beautiful on the inside.

My brother treated us to the VIP passes--- I like feeling like I'm a celebrity-- bypassing all the lines!

The view from the top was soooo pictureseque

It poured after so we grabbed lunch at the Heartland Brewery.... We shared this pretzel--- all seven of us... and still couldn't finish it. Literally larger than a baby's head.

We walked through the city and Time's Square after... and there was rain... and achy feet... we promised them ice cream lol!

 We delivered on the promise.

The next week, we also headed to NYC, this time to see some Lion King--- another generous gift from my sister in law and brother.

A isn't a fan of pizza.... until she tried NYC pizza!!! She's a fan!

A little Time's Square again

We took them to the M&M store for a little treat!

Bags of M&M and we are ready for the Lion King!

I cannot say enough good things about the Lion King. It is definitely the most beautiful Broadway show I've ever seen. The artistry, choreography, music and quality of performance was stunning and definitely the experience of a lifetime!!

We then headed to Ninja New York after for some dinner. The building inside is set up to mimic a ninja village.

The sushi was delicious and the drinks were very strong!

Some of the dishes had a ninja element in its presentation

This was the bathroom which we also loved!!

We then headed out to find some Dylan's candy bar for a little sweet treat.

This milkshake could have fed 10 people and I ordered two--- eeep... we threw away more than half of both.

A little bubble fun and then back to Long Island.

So much fun with the cousins... The city was as fun as I remembered it!!

Happy Monday! Linking up with new mama,  Biana.
