Santorini Sunshine!!

Hello, friends! Here it is, my final and probably favourite part of our Grecian adventure, Santorini!! Though Naxos is a close second! We loved Santorini, the exquisitely clear blue water, all the white buildings, the caldera.... so, so beautiful!

We arrived via high speed ferry from Naxos (tip: don't spring for the business class) and headed straight to our beautiful hotel in Imerovigli in Thira. We stayed at the Absolute Bliss Hotel there. One of my top two hotel experiences ever!

The hotel was kind enough to upgrade us to their honeymoon suites.

After having a glass of wine enjoying some time watching the beautiful view, we got dressed and headed to dinner at Gold Suites

The sunset from Santorini is like nothing I've ever seen and this was from the restaurant. So brilliant and beautiful.

Though the food was absolutely beautiful, it took more than 2 hours for two courses and we were only one of two patrons there so I didn't love the entire experience.

We took a walk along the walking path along the side to see the quiet sights and sounds!

The next morning we woke up around 6 am to do the hike from Imerovigli to Oia. This is the view from the hotel of  how far we hiked... so beautiful!

So many beautiful sights to stop and see.

Oia from a distance--- not nearly as beautiful as it was closer up.

We're here!

The one regret I have is not spending more time in Oia. It was so beautiful with its marble streets, view of the caldera and little shops.

After waiting an hour for a bus, we ended up taking a taxi back and coming back to our room for a very late breakfast!

We rested a bit before heading on one of the infamous Santorini cruises.

A bus picked us up with some other North American couples and we had a great time chatting with them. The bus driver reversed down from a huge narrow hill for a very long time to get us to our destination. #madskills. We went to the very tip of Oia and waited around here.

We stopped at the Hot Springs, the red sea and the white sea.... the water was so refreshing!

The red sea in the back

This was one of D's favourite activities on our entire adventure.

I have a hundred pictures of this gorgeous sunset but I'll just show you one...

We got to our hotel at night... so spent...

The next day we woke early once again. this time to check out Fira.

Isn't it picturesque in this early morning light?

Cathedral of St John the Baptist

We headed to the market for a pastry and some coffee/tea before checking some more stuff out.

SO many different photo opps!

So many steps in Santorini

Back at the beautiful hotel-- this time pool side.

We had breakfast for lunch on the balcony.

We had some wine, checked out the pool and the hot tub and relaxed some more on the balcony before heading for a little walk pre-dinner.

I wanted to take a picture of these steps up to the hotel lobby.... we did so much walking but these steps up did us in every time. So winded!!

not the best shot but wanted to show just a cross section of people from all the different spots waiting to see that Santorini sunset.

Our meal that night was probably the very best we had.... this was octopus.

Almost sunset

My sweets and me.

For dessert we finally had the Greek baklava. I'm not a fan as it's too sweet and soggy for me but hey, we were here, how could we not have baklava in Greece.

After we walked around town and split a teeny tiny gelato, we headed back to get some rest.

This was our porter the next morning with our three suitcases hoisted up those many stairs. FYI, there are a lot of fit residents in Santorini.

So sad to leave!!!!

That was it! A beautiful little getaway with my person.... so much seen and done! We had the best time!!!
