My makeup must haves

Happy Friday! Hope everyone has some wonderful plans for the weekend ahead. We have a busy weekend but not the regular type of busy-- First of all it's the World Cup Finals and then we have visitors coming late next week and staying with us for a week so I need to prep for that. Also, Anjali's 2nd birthday party is next Saturday so I want to finalise a couple things for that as well-- bouncy castle, for my bouncy girl, anyone? :-)

Today, I'm linking up with September Farm and The Farmer's Wife for their inaugural "Hey Friday" party. I thought that I'd do a post on 5 of my Favourite makeup must-haves. Some of them I use everyday and some for special days.

Let me preface this by saying that I am a little bit of a makeup junkie. You should see my bathroom cabinet. I have so much product, it would make your head spin. I am always reading about and sampling makeup products and I sometimes do my friend's and family's makeup for them when they have to really get dressed up. Here's a list of just a few of them I love and that I'm loyal too.

1- Mac Taupe Lipstick--- I love, love, love this lipstick and it's been a mainstay in my makeup bag for more than 11 years. It was on my first trip to Canada when the MAC salesgirl recommended it and since then I've used it. I can put some shimmer on it, a little gloss, darken it with a lipliner or use it by itself but I love it! I use lots of other colours but I always keep this one around. And I also love the quality of other MAc lipsticks and their variety of pigments.... and they have the bring 5 MAC containers back  and you get a free lipstick... guess which one I always get?! However,  Makeup Forever is another one that has great pigmented lipstick.

2- Speaking of Makeup Forever, their Full Cover concealer is amazing! I am one of those fortunate people who began getting breakouts during my first pregnancy and into my thirties! And my skin scars!   A Sephora salesperson recommended it as she said it was their best selling concealer and I love it... it hides all those dark spots and under eye circles. And, if you check Amazon from time to time, you might get a great deal on them.

3- As I'm not in the corporate world anymore, I don't wear heavy makeup too much again but I'm a makeup every day girl nonetheless. This Jane Iredale powder  was recommended by my aesthetician and is a mineral powder with some SPF in it and it has medium coverage. It's lighter than others though so it doesn't clog my pores as much. I'm wondering if it's because it is mineral makeup and I'm thinking of giving other mineral makeup a try.

4- MAC Bronzer--- I used to be all about MAC before but now I'm experimenting with other brands. I do have a bit of their bronzer left that I use on my cheeks for a dewy glow and I love it... I'm curious about other brands though. Anyone?

5- Smokey Eye-ness-- I have very short/stubby eyelashes so mascara is a must along with an eye-lash curler. I am dying to try Younique and will in the next few months! I love eyeliner also but a lot of the times, it bleeds on me and I look like I slept in my eye makeup. This Sephora pot has both a cream eyeliner and a powder and it doesn't seem to smudge as much. (tip: wet your eyeliner brush before you put on any black powder liner to really make it set).

And there you have it.... Happy, happy Friday!!

  2. I don't use a lot of products, but I was convinced to get Laura Mercier pot liner once. I LOVED it haven't bought it again--you had to buy 60 activator to go with it! I am super curious about the Sephora one!
