The Leibster Award

Woo-hoo!! I've been nominated for a Leibster Award by Kelly from Happily Ever Mock.

According to Kelly (and previous bloggers):
"My understanding is that bloggers with followers under a certain threshold (somewhere between 200-2000) are nominated.  It’s a fun way to share a bit about yourself and learn about other newer bloggers too.  This is a cool and supportive venture; a way for the blogging community to show each other some love!

Here are the rules for receiving this award
1- Each person must post 11 things about themselves
2- Answer the questions from the person who nominated you and create 11 new questions for those you nominate
3- Nominate 5-11 of your favorite bloggers and link them in your post
4- Go to their page and tell them
5- Thank and link back to the person’s blog who nominated you"

Thank you, Kelly for nominating me... I'm so excited to share a bit about myself. Here are my responses, nominee requests and questions for them to answer:

11 Facts About Myself:

1. I have always wanted to have a little girl first- and her name had to be Cassia- when I was pregnant with C,  everyone said I was having a boy and I got secretly PO'd! The morning of the big ultrasound when I was going to find out what we were having, I had a conversation with my baby in my belly, telling her "Cassie, I don't know what I'm going to do if you're a boy." And with two girls, it's an absolute abundance of riches.

2. I love buttered whole grain toast with tea for breakfast--- I could eat it every single day for the rest of my life for breakfast but I don't as I try not to eat carbs too often.

3. I love working out and do it 5 days a week for an hour to an hour and a half each day. I feel so much better when I work out and no matter what career path I take when my girls get older, I really, really hope and pray it will allow me the flexibility to work out.

4. I really enjoy blogging and I am very committed to it. Yes, the income will never be as much as I used to make in the corporate world but I really love it.

5. I can touch my tongue to my nose... weird and a little gross.

6. My favourite cocktail is a very dry martini but I also love a complicated glass of wine with great company and a fantastic meal.

7. Despite being from the Caribbean, I'm a very weak swimmer.

8. I travelled to the Ukraine in 2005 and Russia in 2006 and  for a month each i during my MBA right before I got married. It was one of the most fun experiences of my life.

9. I have the weirdest memory. Things that I should remember like fun facts and figures, I don't but I remember totally random stuff like what I buy people for Christmas and what someone ordered when we  went out. This is why I can reread books. I forget all the little facts.

10. I went to an all girl's high school in Trinidad.... it's not an uncommon thing-- the logic is that it's less distracting but I don't know about that--- girls can go crazy when they're not accustomed and do get exposed to the opposite sex

11. I am obsessed with this thing that Pinterest Told You To has coined the blardigan. I wear it every-single-night and morning when I get up, especially in the summer. It's like a robe but only softer, lighter and way more comfortable.  It is my favourite comfy piece in my closet.

Here are the questions that Kelly has posed:

1. What is your favorite movie?
I'm totally slightly embarrassed to say this because there are so many better movies out there but I would have to say the Sex and City Movie. I had loved the series and I thought the movie really tied up all the loose ends very well. I could watch it over and over again. The sequel on the other hand....

2.Why did you start blogging?
You can read more about why I blog here but generally, I started blogging to document the lives of our girls and all the cute stuff they do as  Now it's become so much more than that but at its core, it's still about my family and our adventures.

3. Who was your first best friend? Did you keep in touch?
I first started elementary school where my dad taught but only stayed there for two years. So in junior and senior kindergarten, I had this best friend named Chandroutie. I totally, totally lost touch with her when I got to my other elementary school even.

4. What was your favorite subject in school?
I loved English when I was a kid and as I got older I began to really like Accounting.

5. What is your favorite restaurant?
The best dining experience of my entire life was Daniel in NYC-- I posted about it here as well as about the rest of my trip.

6. What's your dream vacation ?
I love Italy and would love to return! For places I've never been, I've always wanted to go to Greece.

7. What's your favourite saying?
I guess it's more of a part of a poem by Charlotte Bronte

Life believe, is not a dream, So dark as sages say
Oft a little morning rain foretells a pleasant day
Sometimes there are clouds of gloom but these are transient all;
If the shower will make the roses bloom,
Oh why lament its fall

8. Is there a holiday that is most special to you and why?
Usually it's Christmas, for the obvious reasons... such a wonderful time of year.

9. If you could choose one food to live off for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
I am such a foodie and love such different cuisines this would be impossible to choose! I can find something in virtually every cuisine that I love. Maybe trinidadian  food as it's different and what I consider to be the original fusion cuisine.... and I grew up on it, obviously :-)

10. Favorite place to shop?
ummmm.... online? haha.  I love Nordstrom sales for quality items but Target/Macy's for everyday shopping.

11. What would you like to be remembered for?
Being kind, fun and learned.
