Safari Time

You know when you have a post that just gets lost in the shuffle.... this is one of them. One Sunday in the beginning of August, our family headed to the African Lion Safari for a day filled with fun, family, animal watching, water time and of course funnel cake.

The trick to going to African Lion Safari (or any safari for that matter) is to go early. It's not blazing hot so the animals actually move around instead of trying to hide from the sun... and also, it's not ridiculously busy. Since this place is about 20 minutes away from our house, that's exactly what we did,   grabbing breakfast along the way.

We got here before the safari opened for the kids to play and run around a bit.

This photo is very synonymous of what usually happens when we try to take a pic. I LOVE it!

When the gate were open, we headed out to the safari. It's a drive through so we went with our own vehicle- you could have taken the bus as well.

These giraffes were so graceful!

Can you believe this was the view from our car.... so, so close.

We took tons of pictures of the animals but those were just a few of them.

Then we headed to the zoo and play area.

That little monkey climbing the net who belongs in the zoo is mine

This is pure bliss for a kid!

A was happy but squinting in this pic

We walked through the zoo checking out the birds and the elephants at this point.

Cool zone, anyone?

Cassia's mission on this trip was to see flamingoes.

We took a mini train around the area to check out the peripheries of the park. This time we missed the boat--- I mean that literally. There's a boat that also took us around the park but there was so much to do, we didn't get around it it.

I packed a picnic lunch but we really didn't have to. There were tons of great options that weren't too badly priced.

And then to end our day, we headed to their amazing waterpark where the kids had lots of fun. One didn't even want to leave.

And there's our funnel cake!!

We had a wonderful family adventure.... and it's so close to our house! Maybe we will make this an annual event!

Linking up with Jess and AShley for It's The Little Things... 'cause sometimes  outings with just us four are little but so, so special.

  3. I've never been to a safari park before, is there a barrier between the animals and the car? You got so many great photos - looks like you could've reached out and touched those lions!

  4. The funnel cake was yum! The great thing about the Safari park wqs that you got so close to the animals, no barriers, but the car windows had to stay up!
