Favourite Kid's Parties

On Show & Tell Tuesday with Andrea today, we're talking kids' parties.... Here are just of few of my favourites over the years....

Cassia's Carnival has to be up there as one of the most fun ones in recent years. A face painter, some party games, mini hot dogs and lots of sunshine made for a fun one!
Read all about it here.

A's fourth flamingo birthday party last year was the first ever kids' pool birthday party we had--- the first of many I think. And on the hottest day of the year. Lots of swimming, sliding, flamingos and sugar.... yes please!

Read all about it here.

Oh and one of my very favourites also was A's 2nd super simple birthday in our backyard. We had a bouncy house, lots of balloons, some face painting and an ice cream cake. So.much.fun.

And here are my top 10 party planning tips!
Can't wait to sanction snoop around just a bit and maybe steal some ideas for future parties!

March Weekending

This weekend:

- On the way to dinner at Moxies, I got rear-ended but thankfully the car escaped with minimal damage and we are all okay.

- It didn't stop us from enjoying our time together and some amazing food. I had a mushroom bisque and sushi cones. Now Moxie's has started putting the calorie content on everything and when I saw that my very favourite ahi tuna salad was 800 calories, I was sufficiently deterred from ordering it ;-s

- The girls and D went out for breakfast on Saturday while I had a nice sleep in, slowly made my way up, had breakfast and read  It Ends With Us. Such a good book but my heart broke a bit for one of the main characters who is flawed but such a good soul.

- C had her last ski class and is now at the intermediate level! So proud of you, C and so proud of us for not missing one single expensive ski lesson LOL.

-  I did laundry like I do every weekend and then went for a hair cut before we headed to TO to meet some friends.

- Our girls hung out with their girls (similar ages) and their nanny while we went to dinner at George- a five course dinner with wine pairings. I left my phone in my bag as D would have death stared me but the food was divine. We came back home and watched random music videos before calling it a night at Petal's house in Toronto.

- Totally random but A ate so many olives that night that were on the counter when we went out and she was with the other kids. She was so thirsty and actually woke up a bit puffy in the am. I should have known my olive addicted child and hidden them before we left.

- On Sunday morning, we woke up to delicious crepes  and we vegged out while the girls got just a bit of fresh air in the backyard.

- We made our way to Mississauga for a late lunch for our uncle's 65th birthday and ending up spending the afternoon into evening there chatting and playing with the growing family.

- A fell asleep at 630 in the car on the way home :-).

And now it's Monday!

Have a wonderful week.

Friday Five

This week just flew by. Between work, kiddos, doctor's visits, a suspected (but not) case of pink eye and an awful dry cough, I'm looking forward to a strong cough suppressant and some time with my family and friends!

Here are my smiles from this week.
1- When I was working on Sunday, D took the girls for a long walk. A in her funny snowsuit was quite the showstopper and made us all giggle.

2- Monopoly has been a favourite around here these days.... although the seven year old has some questionable die rolling techniques ;-s

3- A really wanted to eat with chopsticks and did a great job-- only thing is that girlfriend didn't break them apart.
FYI, seaweed salad on a four year old's little lap in the gymnastics waiting room, not the smartest idea I've ever had.

4- I had been craving this risotto for weeks now so we finally made it for some of our friends last weekend. Shrimp, scallops and calamari? Yes, please!

5- I'm narrowing down some choices for a cousin's wedding and I've ordered these two so far. Though I'm leaning towards #2, I have a feeling that #1 will suit my body type better and want to try them both on before I made a final choice. Thoughts?

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
