Friday Favourites- Divali 2017

This week we celebrated Divali or The Festival of Lights. It is the largest worldwide celebration among Hindus signifying light over darkness, good over evil and hope over despair.... tenets that all religions encompass in some form or fashion.  We get together with family, do prayers together, light lots of diyas and dine on a feast together. It is such a special night filled with illumination and love.

As I grew up with Divali being a public holiday in Trinidad and as my girls are still young, they miss a day of school and we spend the day at home. In the evening, since we were married, we have headed to our aunts house to do a family prayer and then spend the evening celebrating.

Here are just a few pictures of the festivities.

Beautiful decorations.

My little ladies... all resplendent in their finery.

Here are the girls enjoying their Divali dinner. We eat the roti with our hands-- it's like bread or pizza, it tastes better when eaten with fingers.

We take a family photo every year.

All of us...The family is growing!

Linking up with
Andrea, Erika and Narci for Favourites on Friday

Happy weekending, friends.
