I just love weekending in the fall after a busy summer. It's such a mix of family, friends, food and fun... all with a little hibernating.
This fine October weekend:
+ we finally closed our pool-- bring on the cooler temps. There is no turning back!
+ our friends and their kids (our kids' friends) came over for take out Lebanese, hot sauce making and watching the Jays game.
+ I sneaked out on Saturday morning to run a few errands
+ D and I went to a German restaurant for an amazing dinner--- they make lots of their stuff in house- even flavoured sodas, butter and condiments! I tried fried green tomatoes and it was so delicious!
+ we topped of the evening with a McD ice cream cone #dessertofchamps
+ I started Downton Abbey while spending Sunday in the kitchen and just.cant.quit.
+ My little seven year old socialite, C had two playdates.
+ A began to run a fever so it looks like school may be out for her tomorrow.
+ I cooked up a storm including two of my kids' favourites- butternut squash soup and pumpkin chocolate chip muffins/loaf.
+ We had family dinner and playtime and ended the evening watching a show together.
A wonderful weekend and though we wish our weekends were longer, now we are ready for Monday!

Sounds like a great weekend besides the fever. I imagine that closing the pool has to be such a bittersweet thing. Summer is OVER. I hope A is feeling all right this morning. Being sick is just no fun.
ReplyDeleteOh no! Hope your little one feels better soon! Other than that, it sounds like you guys had a great weekend! That soup looks delish! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes
ReplyDeleteSoup and icecream, what a winning combo
ReplyDeleteWhat a great and full weekend!! My sister's kids are the same with playdates - she spends her days basically planning around them! LOL! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteOMG, Downton Abbey!! My favourite!!
ReplyDeleteYou had a full weekend! Sounds fun. I keep meaning to check out Downtown Abbey, I think it sounds good.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun weekend..
ReplyDeleteI started Downtown a few years ago and binged it like crazy..
I stopped watching it the last two seasons.. felt like it had lost it's charm for me..
Oh so jealous of the true fall weather! Butternut or pumpkin soup are just the best at this time of year...
ReplyDeleteHope your little bit is better soon! I totally think I may have to make some butternut squash soup..I keep seeing others making it but I doubt my family will touch it. More for me! :)
