Have you shopped yet and Everyday Life Photos- Week 43 & 44

Has anyone shopped in the huge Nordstrom clearance sale just yet. I literally just wait for their sales and only splurge on a full priced item if it's absolutely worth it (ahem, Blardigan). This time around, lots of Pleione items on sale (their shirts are so comfy, wash well and lots do not wrinkle), some lovely Kate Spade items are on sale including this necklace that I bought over the summer (on sale too of course) and lots of Zella workout wear... as well as tons of other stuff.

And for us Canadians, they do ship here with a $10 shipping fee and some duties... I ship to the US though and my mom brings across my stuff. ... shhhhhh

Day #299
We're having a Mexican takeout picnic! Warning though folks, before you think this is a cool idea, your kids might want to do this everyday after that.

Day #300
A disney-palooza of princesses for E's party

Day #301
At the pumpkin patch with the dodgy pumpkins

Day #302
I found all C's old shoes in the basement-- I literally have saved a couple hundred dollars here with a couple Naturinos, Stride Rite and Geox in the mix. D can thank me later.

Day #303
And then we did this cool pumpkin craft (instructions found here)

Day #304
A little birdie went to Kindermusik

Day #305
The little star of her school Halloween play with her one perfectly executed line.
#mamabias

Day #306
And Elsa went Trick or Treating

Day #307
Hello November and hello snow?!
Seriously not kidding.

Day #308
We visited the newlyweds Sonya and Nevin for a yummy lunch. We also used the self timer here propped up by the plate of garnishes.

Day #309
C is studying Judaism in school and loves their 'hats' as she calls them

#310
C asked me to come to her Montessori and watch her do a job. So glad I have the time to spend a couple extra minutes in the class with her  :-)

My toddler's playlist

I make six trips a day to the girls' school- well three to and three from: in the am, at lunch time to pick A up and in the evening for C.  I very rarely get to listen to my own tunes on my playlists. Instead, most times, there is a mighty two year old in the back who loooves her music and is a little Napolean when it comes to whatever song comes on. She listens to a few beats and then proceeds to tell me if she likes the song or whether I should change it.... in a kind of demanding way-- i.e. 'Mommy, not that song. I no like it! '

A's playlist includes:

Let it Go from Frozen- The Adele Dazeem version- bahaha!
Hey Soul Sister by Train.... or as she would say 'Hey Soul Stista'
Dhole Taro Dhole Baje- a Bollywood song-- she calls this one 'Da da da da da-dun da da' because the first few beats sound like this.
Kitty Cat by Edwin Yearwood-- a Trinidadian (kind of risque) soca tune
Cups by Anna Kendricks
Time for Africa by Shakira

(at this point, you're probably wondering about my eclectic taste music)

Most times I acquiesce if she asks nicely enough. Then she grabs her ear and begins to zone out listening to the music but  I get a little quiet time, so win-win right?

What about you? What songs do you rock out to? Does your little one have a special song (s)?

PS- Cass loves to listen to different tunes but is not as picky. She does love Jar of Hearts and every time a love song comes on, she asks me what we 'did' to this song. i.e. first dance, cutting our cake, going to the hospital for our first baby etc.... she is very disappointed when I don't have an answer for every song!

PPS. Speaking of playlist, has anyone downloaded Songza yet? A truly great app for playlists for any mood, any age any event... Try it, trust me!! PS> It's free!!!

What's on.... My (very simple) bucket list!

I simply love Andrea's link-up series!! Fun ideas when you blog almost every weekday and sometimes are stuck for different topics!

I love a good bucket list but the thing is I like to enjoy each day as much as I possibly can and appreciate the joy in the imperfection. So many wrong things happen, I like to celebrate all the little right ones that do. So truth be told, I don't really have much of a bucket list but here are a few things I'd like to see happen (or continue to happen) in my life going forward.

Health-

I'll never be as skinny as I was in my twenties but I think that I am fitter and healthier than I have been in recent years.... I'd like to continue that streak going forward.... and maybe lean out some more in the process. I'd like to continue to work-out and eat clean as much as humanly possible. There's a saying in my gym--- Exercise is a form of self respect. I 100% agree with that and want to continue that going forward. And I feel way, way better when I get those fruits and veggies in.

At Home Life

I'm at home with my girls right now doing some very part time stuff. I won't be doing this forever, but I would like to find some sort of path to continue to be there for my girls and D but have something I can do on my own... cryptic much? ;-)

Making Friends

In Canada, we don't have a lot of family. D has always been a strong advocate of making strong connections in our city. I'd really like to continue to do that and step outside my comfort zone with different people, places and situations. C has it down to a science on the playground. She looks around, finds someone her age and runs up to them asking them if they want to play with her... cool, huh?

Photography

I'd really, really love to learn my new DSLR a bit more, take some classes and become a more professional photographer... especially with this blog. Sometimes I look at my pics and just shake my head.

Travel

What's a bucket list without travel?

That is so me right now when we travel! But in time....

I'd really like to visit some more European cities and countries... Greece, Spain and more cities in France and Italy are on my list. I would love to see both city and country life there.... and I cannot wait until my girls are old enough so the four of us can enjoy travelling together.

Doing Good

Right now, the girls have me so busy but I'd like to devote some more time to charity work. Yes, we donate very often and I'm in a couple local charity committees but I would definitely like to do some more stuff going forward.

So that's my very tame bucket list! What about you? What exciting things do you have on your bucket list?

Halloween Fun

We had lots of fun this Halloween. Here are just a few pics of our spooky day!

Here we are as Red Robin. This was at school for her Halloween play. The 'big kid' group wrote and starred in their own play... C was one of two who had a line-- her teachers said that she really wanted to say a line. This kid loves the stage! She smiled from beginning to end of her performance.... except of course in this shot!!

PS. She was Red Robin. A total figment of her imagination. Her teacher helped her to make a costume!

And here we are with Elsa. This is the first year that I let my kid dress as a Disney Character... but truth be told, I don't mind Elsa too much. She's smart and strong and a good leader!

I put a touch of makeup on her and she loved it!

My little birdie--- C told me that A was a sparrow!

Elsa and her birdie!

All decked out to go. Our neighbour showed up toTrick or Treating at our house and we went together. We also met a friend and her kids along the way.

Little A- it was her first time Trick or Treating... She looved it and was very mad when I tried to help her hold her bucket!

it's a good thing I came home when I did. We found Shrek (D) giving one teeny tiny fun sized candy to each kid... I bought enough to give each kid a bag of chips and a couple pieces as well!

All the spoils....

Sorting out the candy!

Hope everyone had an amazing Halloween filled with lots of sugar and fuN!!!-- Kit Kats are my poison...
