Hooray, it's Friday!

This weekend could not come fast enough. Between all the stuff with the new house, flying solo with the girls for  more time than usual and trying to get contractors to cooperate, I'm so looking forward to a long weekend! And maybe getting spoilt on Valentine's Day--- hint, hint, D ;-)

1- It is FREEZING cold and going to be even colder this weekend but just look at how beautiful it was!

At sunrise….

Just before school

2- Speaking of cold, one of my least favourite parts of the day is hauling my three year old into the car after she just woke up from nap, walking quite a way and then waiting in the cold for C to come outside. However, this picture from this week cracks me up. Poor thing was so cold, she was trying to cover her face.

3- It's Valentine prep time around here and here are  our cheap and cheerful Valentines for this year!

Both sets of teachers got $5 starbucks drink cards for a warm beverage of choice.

C's class

And A's

4- House update: still waiting on our back-splash to be installed and the walls to be painted. I think when that's done, things will seem a little bit more complete. It's weird just having unpainted drywall in the kitchen.

5- And some funnies for the 14th….

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!! May there be chocolates, kisses and lots of love!

February Weekending….

Weekends just seem to fly by! Weekdays on the other hand…..
I totally neglected to take many pictures this weekend… Too busy being busy I guess.

We:
+ went to visit our old neighbours for drinks and appies on Friday night. They
+ painted (well D did) and hung pictures
+ (I) ran lots of errands with the kids on Saturday… including going into the very glass filled Pier 1 with two curious girls. There we scored some little paper trinkets on clearance for eight cents each. I don't believe I've ever paid eight cents for anything in my entire life!!
+ ordered some yummy thai food from a gas station… yep a gas stationb
+ walked down to the river in our new 'hood where we discovered that deer poop looks just like black beans (fun fact for 'ya)
+ took C skiing and she did the big hills and learnt to jump on skis
+ finally got caught up on laundry!
+ I snuck out to Chapters which is literally right across the street from  me…. (Americans, it's our version of Barnes & Nobles)
+ went to an awesome Superbowl party with Jenn and Alex complete with devilled eggs, nachos and margaritas! And beer too of course… but who gets excited about beer? I thought that the half time show was one of the better ones recently and I'm glad that Peyton Manning is getting to go out on that high!

Happy Monday, friends! And to my trinis, have a wonderful Carnival!

Hey there Friday!

Hello lovelies! I haven't done one of these posts in what seems like forever…. last year to be exact! Time to catch up….

1- Remember earlier this week  when I had all these grand ambitions for hot water, stove and more unpacked boxes… well believe it or not, check, check and check…. things are happening around here and though no one wants to see an HVAC system, here's a brand new shiny cook-top for ya'….

PS. Along with this thing comes a downdraft which I'd never seen before but is pretty cool. We lost two drawers beneath the stove when all was installed--- but hey, there's cooking around here! Spaghetti with veggies for the win after excessive usage of the slow cooker, microwave and oven!

2- As I was in full on domestic mode, I also made these amazing flourless peanut butter chocolate chip mini- muffins for the kids to mix up our morning menu…. thanks Salma!

3- Back when I was in the corporate world and travelling lots with an awful commute and a toddler--- we had a part-time housekeeper…. we parted ways when she married and migrated but she came to visit-- catch up, help me unpack and even volun-told her husband to help us with some of the trickier painting in our house for FREE! (he's a painting contractor for luxury homes)--- total score!! Aren't there wonderful souls out there?!

Then…

Now….

4- And speaking of painting and many visits to our very nearby Home Depot--- my girls are obsessed with the colour swatches and always walk away with many samples!

5- I've only recently stumbled upon Lou & Grey and I've only bought a couple of their pieces when LOFT had a huge sale but I adore their stuff…. so.very.comfy! Their flipside leggings have been on repeat ever since I got them!

Have a wonderful weekend, friends! Ours involves odds and ends in our new home, drinks, dinner and some Superbowl fun!

Winning my heart!

In the month of luv, I'm linking up once more with Andrea for Show & Tell Tuesday. This time we're  talking love languages- Have you ever heard of the five love languages? We all respond to each of the five: words of affirmation, physical touch, quality time, acts of service and gifts. However, there are one or two (or three) that resonate more with each person.

For me my predominant love language is words of affirmation. To me actions don't speak louder than words. I love kind words, voicing appreciation and beautiful cards mean the world to me. So yeah, when D voices his encouragement or gives me even the most simple compliment, I'm one happy girl.

A close second is acts of service. The tiny things, like clearing up the dishes, bathing the girls so I have time to myself or putting gas in my car in freezing cold temps is another thing that makes me so, so happy.

But I won't lie, a little gift for an occasion isn't unappreciated either! Like chocolates... for anything!

However, the thing that won my heart with D is that we were friends, he was cool and he made (and makes me laugh). I not only love him but I really, really like him and he's fun to be around!

GO ahead, take the quiz... what's your Love Language?
