Exersaucing
The exersaucer is a hot commodity in this house, be it baby or toddler! It was one of Cassia's favourites and it is quickly becoming one of Miss Anjali's. She can spend more than half an hour at a time in it (baby speak for a lifetime, I can do so much in that time) She has to fight her toddler sister for it though as sometimes I still find Cassia in it! Love the exersaucer... and also love that it was a gently used hand me down from some family! Free and fun- what more could we ask for!

Brrrrr.....
It's cold!!! And not anticipated to get much warmer in the next couple weeks. As someone who just moved to Canada in her 20s, these winter months are a bit tough for me. Before moving here, I remember another immigrant from the Caribbean told me that there will be one winter day when you will be walking in the snow freezing your ass off and you will wonder why the hell you moved from the nice warm weather into the cold... and you will begin to cry. It happened to me on the 21st January, 2005 when I in London, Ontario walking home from yoga class in -20 weather. Every single immigrant I have told this anecdote to has also said it has happened to them.
These days I don't cry about the weather anymore although when I am working, my awful commute (50 minutes each way with traffic) can more than double. Driving in the snow is painful.... and scary! So yes, I am glad to be home now especially as its so hard to take a baby in a bucket car seat out. I've been strategizing on how to limit my errands or wait until Darin is home to do some and the only times I have to go out are to pick up Cassia from daycare.
Stay warm everyone--- unless you're in Trinidad. In that case, keep cool!

| View of the backyard-- snow is much more endearing when it does not to be shovelled. |
Laundry Day
Everyday is laundry day in this house-- seriously. I jest you not. Between baby and toddler clothes, whites and darks, delicates and pjs, kitchen stuff and towels, I do at least one or two loads of laundry per week day. I am a bit of laundry nazi though, separating the kids' clothes into cold and warm wash items, I like everything to be folded right away to avoid wrinkles, use many different detergents ( I even bring in my Dreft from across the border), insist on a specific technique for fitted sheets and try to do my ironing as soon as possible. However, when I have help it makes it that much more complicated fun.
| Yes, that IS a a laundry basket Cassia is relaxing in... and newly washed laundry is covering her. |
Maybe someday, people will begin to do their own laundry and I can maybe launder stuff every other day. What will I do with all my free time then??
