Currently and Prime Lately

Good morning, lovelies! School is out for the day unexpectedly and we are now scheduled for a day of hygge! Here's a little bit of Currently with Anne for ya'.

Anticipating:

Some crazy weather in February! We have a ' prolonged ice event' today and January was a tough one with cold weather and snow so who knows what February will bring.

Going:

To  Mexico in March and counting the days until warm weather, sunshine, family time, chilaquiles and margs!!

Making:

Fish every week so far at least once a week. I'm sticking to my NY resolution like a champ even though there are moans and groans from a particular child of mine!

Watching:

A Million Little Things--- love all the twists and turns! Oh and This is Us. Based on these, any other recommendations?

Wearing:

My heavy North Face winter coat in full force. I got one similar to this one last year as a gift from my mom. Not a minute too soon apparently. Other than that, lots of sweaters, ponchos, leggings and warm socks... you get the idea!

And now for a little Prime Lately with Tanya

As I mentioned before, we are totally obsessed with Monopoly Deal after playing it at our family's house. We play multiple games almost every night and have taught a few people who are now also obsessed.

I'm loving this dress I bought for the summer or even spring with a denim jacket. With the basic black, I can have some fun with my accessories!

The littles have started skiing again and Amazon is great for snow goggles like this highly rated one we got. Way cheaper than a ski shop but great quality.

And some ski socks

I received a couple Amazon gift cards for my birthday so I put it all together to re-enter the Kindle world with  Paper White for my bed time reading. Maybe it's just me but I'm loving less blue light at night and how portable it is to take places with me.

Oh and speaking of blue light, I wear these glasses at night now when looking at my iPad or Kindle.

TBB Asks- Relationships

Happy Monday! All things love today, friends.... here we go!

1- Who is your oldest friend? How did you meet?
My oldest friend that I still keep in contact with is my friend Adia from high school. She was in my high school classes all the way until the end, all seven years! We aren't in touch as often as we should be but when we chat, it's like we never left off.

2- Who are your people?
I have a few people but we are tight!

My person here.

My other people...

My aunts who have always been here for me

My girl right here.....

This boy here

And this other girl here

Okay scratch few people. Through this post, I'm realising that I have a lot of peeps!

3- How did you meet your partner?
In TGIF's in Chaguanas in TNT. It was 2002 and we became friends and then it  quickly developed into soulmate status!!

4- What's your love language?
I wrote a whole post about it but it's words of affirmation firstly for sure.

5- Flowers or chocolates?
Both! LOL

6- What's the most meaningful gift you've ever received?
That's a tough one but recently my friend Kamini gave me a gift basket for my birthday with so many of my favourite things (she read a post of mine). It had chocolates, wine, a jade roller, a diffuser with a sampling of oils, my fave chocolate pecan pie which she just about searched the town to find, a framed picture of us and some teas with a steeper. Oh and she paid for my makeup to be done the night of the party. It was so kind and so thoughtful!

7- How is Valentines' Day celebrated in your home?
For the past couple Valentines' days, we have ordered in from a nice gourmet take out place in town, opened some bubbly, used our wedding china and crystal and enjoyed a multiple course meal with the kids. Lots of fun and I believe we are doing it this year again!

How about you? How do you celebrate Valentine's Day?

Friday Favourites- Books Lately

Ooooohhhh,  I've been reading some page turners recently!  With the holidays, a stomach bug, some travelling and cold weather, reading has been my jam! Here we go...

Becoming by [Obama, Michelle]
It's no wonder this books has so many five star ratings on Amazon. It was compelling and captivating and covers Michelle's life up until this point with great detail and candour whilst maintaining class and respect. I loved getting to know her better and understanding a bit more about the Obamas and what made them the strong role models that they are. She definitely doesn't sugar coat a lot and is brutally honest throughout. It's a long read and starts off a bit slowly but it's so well written, highly recommend.

Swear on This Life: A Novel by [Carlino, Renée]

If you are looking for a captivating, quick love story this is the one for you. I LOVED IT. For Colleen Hoover fans, it reminds me of her writing a bit. The protagonist has had a tough life which has hardened her quite a bit and through the book you see her journey, growth and beautiful love story. It was happy, sad, funny, insightful and contemplative all at the same time. Even writing this makes me want to reread the book!

Girl, Wash Your Face: Stop Believing the Lies About Who You Are so You Can Become Who You Were Meant to Be by [Hollis, Rachel]

Such a great book. And I loved it for this particular time in my life and the milestone birthday I just had. A little life coaching, a little cheer leader and a little cut the BS and a whole lot of truth and empowering. A very quick read with some very strong messaging.

Evidence of the Affair by [Jenkins Reid, Taylor]

Love a good quick read with a  plot twist. Basically a woman writes a story to a man she's never met because she thinks that their respective spouses are having an affair. A friendship ensues complete with twists and turns.  For TJR fans, this was cute (and free if you have Prime or Kindle Unlimited).

And Then You Loved Me- Inglath Cooper
And Then You Loved Me by [Cooper, Inglath]

I got this one from Amazon and what a wonderful read about the Old Order Church, family obligations, strong teenage relationships and so many unexpected twists and turns. You get different points of views from old and young and the past and present. It also has some beautiful love stories between two old teenage sweet hearts, a mother and daughter and two sisters. I'd definitely read something else from this author.

What have you been reading lately? Anything to recommend?

Happy weekending, friends!

What we've been up to…
Lots of celebrations this month for my big birthday with all of my family coming from NYC, DC and Pennsylvania.

We all went out for a big dinner!

The more brave among us went sledding

They tried making uni-brows for themselves

The night before my birthday, the 'young-uns' were supposed to go out but D's back has been acting up so we stayed in and enjoyed some bubbles instead!

A little cousin birthday yoga

A birthday lunch at Little Louis'- a burger joint in town

Their turkey burger even without the bun was so delicious!
