Scarf Exchange 2015 and Happy Divali

Happy Divali to all those celebrating! For those who don't know about Divali, you can read my post here. We will be off to our aunt's house for family prayers and dinner together.

This year I participated in Whitney's, Elizabeth's,  and Courtney's scarf exchange.

Scarf Exchange

I love scarves! Coming from super hot temps, I never had the need for one until I was in my mid twenties and moved up to the cooler climates. But it was then that the love affair begun. Once my neck is warm, I can conquer the world- #reallynotreally.  Scarves dress up (or dress down) an outfit, can add a splash of colour and keep you warm too. I keep my scarves on lots of times even when I take off my jacket.

I was matched up with Evelina from Fortunate House and she sent me the sweetest packages and note. And I got not one but two soft, airy scarves!

Such neutral colours go with everything!

A photographer I am not.

Neither a smiler apparently!

Thank you Evelina for the wonderful scarves.
I sent mine to Rhonda at Ever Batiuk

Can't wait to see everyone else's presents!!!

November weekending!

This weekend kind of began on Thursday and I:

- dropped the girls over for a sleepover by my brother and his family while we attended a charity gala

- headed to Buffalo with my friend Jenn on Friday to enjoy a little Target, Panera and Trader Joe shopping.

- spent lots of QT with my brother, sister in law and very sweet and sassy nephew

- went for an adult only dinner  with the family at an Indonesian restaurant.

- had High Tea with some of my girlies.

-  began to 'Konmari'

- did a little sale shopping, ran some errands and made some long term plans :-)

- took the littles out for some fresh air and a bite to eat.

Happy Monday friends! May the day be short and your coffee strong!

Five finds this Friday!

Usually I have a mish mash of favourites but this week it's all about all sorts of finds from all sorts of places. Friday

1- Look at these wine markers I just ordered after seeing them on Kaitlin's blog. Isn't this perfect for the holiday season? I don't know about anyone else but I'm always misplacing my glass!

2- Speaking of wine, I've always loved my friend Jenn's wine glasses for their thin rim and perfect size.  Went to buy them and found out Bay Days (sort of like Macy's Days) is today and tomorrow. Totally put them on hold and I'm going back for them very soon.  I'm smart like that :-)

3- Okay I know technically pumpkin season is coming to an end but BBW 's Pumpkin Coconut has officially tied with Pumpkin Pecan Waffles as my favourite fall scent. Pumpkin and coconut= match made in heaven.

4- I'm a tea snob but I must say Tea India's Chai Moments are a favourite this week. Check out my post on them earlier this week.

5- And Amazon for the win again! Look at this blanket scarf for just $16!

This weekend's plan of my cousin and brother visiting has me stoked. That and today when he brings my kids back but I have a whole chunk of today to myself to do some random stuff. Alone time is so rare around here.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

And just in case you come here for some cuteness:

A Tiny Tea Party

Oh Fall! School, routine and cooler temps all around. But in our home, we celebrate the extraordinary in the ordinary! We dress up, accessorise and go full on fancy-- both with our food and our fashions….  a weekday tea party does all of this!

It doesn't take much, just a little pre dinner treat for the littles, some warm milk and some chai for mama. For my chai option, I was thrilled to receive samples of Tea India's chai moments to try!

We keep it simple and a little healthy!

Of course dress up is par for the course. I said no to the eye shadow on a Monday but yes to the sparkly  dress.

They love their teeny-tiny glass mugs. Don't let dad know, they're his espresso cups.

Of course lots of chatter ensues about the day. School. The most popular kids. How I should wear my hair. Why she wants to take martial arts (to beat up the boys). Who they will marry. Why we should have a pet. Lots and lots folks. I don't make this stuff up and I love to hear all the little stories. I hope and pray they will confide in me more and more as they grow up.

A was more in a listening mood-- with her 'very hurting cold'-- her words!
She did manage to stuff a whole strawberry in her mouth though.

And for me….

(the quality of this image is not the greatest due to my six year old's shaky hands. I really wanted to keep it authentic so it was just us three. Be thankful it wasn't my three year old who loves to take pictures of feet)

The Chai Moments were the perfect mid-afternoon snack on a cooler afternoon. Currently available in Milk Tea, Cardamom, Ginger and Masala, there is lots to choose from.  You just add six to eight ounces of hot water to your favourite blend, mix and enjoy. I love a cup of chai but for our 10 minute tea parties, it's a lot of work to make a cup of homemade chai for just me. These little packets are super convenient.

I tried the Milk Tea first and will slowly (okay, maybe not so slowly) make my way through the others. It was delicious and reminded me of the chai you sip at the end of the meal at parties! A true treat.

The Chai Moments are also just over a 100 calories- I repeat just over 100 calories! It's the perfect hint of sweetness as a little treat so you can watch your kids scarf down their cookies without begging them for a bite. But while it is sweet yes, at only 12 grams of sugar (compared to other chai offerings with over 20 grams)  it was the perfect hint of sweetness without being overly so. And it has real spices and no artificial flavours. #winwin

Next up, I'm thinking I'll do the cardamom. Or the masala. Or maybe the ginger when I'm a bit under the weather…. oh, the options I have!

And of course a mid afternoon selfie before all was done!

Afternoon Tea Time. I see this tradition continuing for us for years and years to come.

What fun traditions do you have with your kids? Do you like chai? Have you tried Tea India's Chai Moments.
