Five on Friday- week before Christmas

It's been a bit of a while since I've done a Five on Friday/update. Once again I'm linking up with A liz Adventures  for this great link-up party.

Also linking up to Kelly's Corner for Christmas Traditions. Double link up--- whaaattt?!

It's freezing rain out and we're indoors today so perfect blogging weather!

1- We're officially off from school! Cass had her Christmas Party on Wednesday. The older kids did a puppet show, they had treats and a movie- about the true meaning of Christmas, which not one kid watched since they were all too keyed up. After that, Cass asked me not to go to music and dance... we did however have a babysitter (she usually watches Anjali while I take Cass to all her activities) sooo.....

Here's a shot of my girl waiting on her treats- didn't take any of her with the other kids as I'm very cautious about  putting other people's kids on my blog without parental permission.

2- Darin and I got to do one of our annual Christmas traditions- this involves going for a drink, a meal and some great conversation (without kids) and then heading over to the mall where I give him gift ideas (for me as I do the shopping for everyone else). We then separate and he makes his purchases. It's a nice couple hours for us and he doesn't stress out as much about what to get me--- next year we'll go back to the mall in Kitchener though. The Cambridge mall is lacking!!

Red wine and the holidays go hand in hand- no?

3- Presents are mostly wrapped- yay! Another tradition, I usually watch a cheesy Lifetime movie while wrapping my gifts a few at a time every night until they are done.  Finally got a chance to do it yesterday so I had to do it in bulk. This year I had a little "helper"- I use that word very loosely.

4- Santa's letter is written.... a new tradition to continue for many years! Now it's just to take it to Santa.... take a look. Cass dictated, I helped with the writing and she decorated and signed.

5- Cookies are a big part of our holidays but this year I am eating waaaayyy too much cookies. We have gotten a record amount of treats from friends, family, bake sales and colleagues... and we did some baking last night too. My friend/work out partner gave me some cookies in this beautiful package before she left to go home for the holidays--- so less working out and more sugar---- eeekkk!!! I really will need that sugar detox in January.

So many more traditions to talk about but so much Christmassing to do.
Have a WONDERFUL pre-Christmas weekend, everyone!

Christmas fun this weekend

The time is flying! Where is our Christmas season going?

On Friday, D, C and I went to see Frozen. A very apt movie for this December. We loved it and now "Do you want to build a snowman?"  has become a little bit of an ear-worm for us.

On Saturday, we had errands, gymnastics, prep for Sunday and lots of snow. We did however, manage to have some fun.

Isn't red his colour?

I'm seriously wasting my money on toys. Check out Santa and his reindeer.

I'

Hmmm.... Santa's getting heavy--- too many cookies this season.

Hey, where did my reindeer go?

On Sunday, we had our 6th Annual Christmas get together for some of our friends---- this year we had a champagne brunch (it used to be a night event at one time but guess when that changed?!)- anyways, it was lots of eats, drinks, laughter and it was so nice of our friends to come down in this blustery weather, some from even  as far as Ajax.

I was too busy hosting to take many pics but here are a few. Thanks Andrea for taking a few.

I made a red velvet cake for the party! Nothing says festive like red cake no?

Here are the drinks! And yes, that's snow chilling the champagne

A few of the dishes we did--- seriously, I did lots this year! I was tired after!

Here I am with my sweet friend, Andrea- one of my favourite people!

Her kids are some of Cassia's favourite people also.

Even Anjali who usually has 'stranger danger' loved Uncle Will (the kids' dad). THis is a HUGE deal and Will should be very flattered.

Ok, at this point I know it seems like it was just our two familes at the parties but not quite.

Here are just a few of the guests

The men having a post dinner scotch.

And then some more of the kids....Next time, I'll assign someone to take some more shots.

And I end with some of my favourite girls!

The grandparents are in town- some of them anyways!

It feels like ages since I've last blogged. We've been busy, a combination of my babies, Christmas, errands, chores, life and we also have some visitors- Darin's parents have come to visit! His dad had some minor eye surgery in Canada a few days ago and since it's around the holidays, they decided to stick around for a few extra days (in what has turned out to be the coldest December in 13 years-- weather network factoid). Then my parents come next week as well so we are doubly blessed. Words cannot describe how incredibly thankful we are to have all our parents and the kids' grandparents come to our home for the one of our most favourite times of the year. There's nothing like having grandparents around--- enjoying the season, playing with the kids, chatting with D and I,  cooking up a storm, babysitting when we need it! As you can see below... the kids love it!

We went to one of our favourite restaurants The Cambridge Mills when they first got here

Checking out "winston" on the iPad-- whoever that is-- all I know is that because of Winston, Cassia called Anjali a drama queen when she was crying to be picked up.... it was kind of funny.

Giving Ajee a hairstyle
See the beautiful ponytail?

And then there was this situation!

Christmas Pajama Party

Christmas PJs are one of my favourite parts of Christmas-- for the grown ups and kids--- but especially for the little ones...  Today, I'm linking up with these lovely ladies below for a Christmas pajama party!

My girls have several pairs of Christmas jammies each. Gymboree, Gap and Carters all have great ones but I love, love, love these old fashioned Christmas nighties. I scoured the internet for them last year and finally found them on Zulily(this year I think that Gymboree has nighties as well). I bought Cassia's and one for Anjali as well in preparation for her being able to wear them this year.

So PJs, check. Cute kids, check. iPhone check...

Time to take our pictures!!

Not so fast.

Here we are beginning our 'photo-shoot'

All settled by the Christmas tree but someone has something better to do.

Let.. go.. of.. me

Take 25 (seriously, these are the best ones!)

Yay! Only a couple weeks till Christmas!

And that was that!

Mommy Patraj was so tired after that, he decided to sleep in on this cold morning.
